ராஜகேசரி என்ற இந்த வரலாற்றுத் தொடர் மிகச் சிறப்பாக வந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது. நடையில் வேகமும், துள்ளலும் மிக இயல்பாக இருக்கிறது. கதாசிரியருக்கு சரித்திரத்தில் இருக்கும் ஆழ்ந்த அறிவு தெளிவாக புலப்படுகிறது. கதாசிரியரின் வர்ணனை திறனுக்கும், சிறப்பான நடைக்கும் எடுத்?க்காட்டாக கதையைப் படிக்கும் பொழுது அக்கால தஞ்சாவூர் கண்களில் விரிவதை செல்லலாம். கதையின் ஆரம்பத்தில் உள்ள முன்னுரையில் அக் கால மக்களின் வாழ்க்கை முறைகளை விளக்கப் போவதாக சொல்லப்பட்டாலும், கதையின் போக்கில் அப்படித் தெரியவில்லை. ஒரு சதி அதைச் சுற்றி பின்னப்படும் கதை என்று வழக்கம் போல ஒரு "மசாலா" வரலாற்றுக் கதையாகவே கதையின் போக்கு "இது வரை" தென்படுகிறது. தற்கால நிகழ்வுகள் கதைக்குள் புகுத்தப்பட்டது போல சில இடங்களில் தெரிகிறன. குறிப்பாக ராஜராஜரின் பாதுகாப்பு ஏற்பாடுகள், அவரை காண வருபவர்களை குறிப்பெடுத்துக் கொள்ளுதல் போன்றவை கதை நிகழும் காலத்தில் இருந்திருக்குமா என்ற ஐயம் எழுகிறது. ஆனாலும் அந்தக் கற்பனை சிறப்பாகவே உள்ளது. கல்கியின் பாதிப்பு கோகுலிடம் தேவைக்கு அதிகமாகவே தென்படுவதை தவிர்த்திருக்கலாம். கல்கியின் பாணியில் எழுதுவதற்கு கூட ஆழ்ந்த புலமை தேவை. என்றாலும், தன்னுடைய தனித்தன்மையை கதையில் கொண்டு வந்திருந்தால் இன்னும் சிறப்பாக இருந்திருக்கும். மொத்தத்தில் சில குறைகள் தென்பட்டாலும், மிக சிறப்பான ஒரு வரலாற்று கதையாக இது வெளிவரும் என்பதற்கான ஆரம்பகட்ட அறிகுறிகள் மிக வலுவாகவே உள்ளன தொடர்ந்து மிகச் சிறப்பாக எழுத எனது வாழ்த்துக்கள்

Anbulla Thiru. Gokul, 'Raaja Kesari' is as interesting and exciting as 'Ponniyin Selvan'. Sometimes I feel like Kalki himself just continued writing this after his famous epic. It's of very high quality and I am sure that it feels like already a classic to me (and my family). But it's painful to wait a whole month for the next episodes, where I want to read the whole of novel in a single sitting. I know it's not possible to have the novel at once, but the website could be updated more often (say weekly) than once a month (sounds like once a blue moon to me :) I would also like to know if there are other work of yours, which I can readily get from publications/bookshops. This story is really good. Generally such historical stories has main line as love or some young man. Here even without youth and love, you have given an interesting Historical Novel. The Novel is simply superb and interesting. I am looking forward to read the second part.

the climax culminating in preventing the attempt to kill the King has been very graphically portrayed. we feel the chill and are greatful that the prayers of the King's family have been well answered ! If the achievements of the great emperor are seen visibly it is the unending stream of ministers, warriors and other watchful citizens that lie as the foundation. Long live such noble souls!
